No Shame in the Chronic

People in Switzerland are quite open about smoking marijuana. I don't know if there is anything officially on the law books about it, but people openly smoke.
Which, to an American, is strange in itself. However the even stranger part is that there doesn't seem to be any consistency among who, when or where people smoke. You will easily see both young and old smoking anytime of the day on the Rhine River Banks. Also, at normal, everyday cafes and restaurants, or sometimes on the street, you may smell someone lighting up. The youngest I've seen are teenagers and the oldest in their mid seventies.
So don't be surprised if you smell something funny in the air.Labels: cultural differences, switzerland
